Bolsover Dam

Our team performed a dam assessment and recapitalization project for Lock 37 (Bolsover Dam) located on the Trent-Severn Waterway. The dam is used to regulate water levels for navigation and has been designated a Level 1 Cultural Heritage Site. The dam is a concrete gravity structure with two stop log bays, four spillways and headwalls. The assessment concluded that the dam is in a significant state of disrepair, the integrity of the structural concrete is in question and is at risk of structural failure. Operation and safety risks were also identified. A recapitalization project is ongoing to evaluate alternatives for the rehabilitation/reconstruction of the dam while maintaining the existing cultural/historical character of the site.

Shawinigan Dam Complex

Due to the age of these facilities (originally commissioned in 1914), Hydro-Québec decided to upgrade the plants. The complex has a total of 11 turbine-alternator groups, and our team was contracted to conduct preliminary design and provide detail engineering services covering most aspects of the plants. This included design and production of drawings and specs for the supply, installation and construction of equipment and systems, managing engineering works and coordination with sub-contractors and between different specialties and manufacturers.
